Wild Elephants Attack Car on Mettupalayam-Kotagiri Road, SI Injured

On June 10, near Kotagiri, a car driven by a Tamil Nadu Special Police Sub-Inspector, Manoharan, was attacked by two elephants, resulting in injuries and car damage.

Coimbatore: In a frightening encounter on the night of June 10, a car journey took a perilous turn when two wild elephants attacked the vehicle on Mettupalayam-Kotagiri road near Kotagiri. SI Manoharan, traveling back to Coimbatore with his son Anbarasan in their private car, came across the elephants blocking the road near Kotagiri View Point.

Stopping the car, they witnessed the aggravated elephants charge and topple the vehicle following a sudden loud horn from a passing two-wheeler. Fortunately, Manoharan sustained minor injuries, escaping a potentially fatal scenario.

The regions of Mettupalayam and Sirumugai host diverse wildlife including elephants, wild buffaloes, leopards, and deer, making animal encounters on roads common, especially during their search for food and water across different parts of the forest.
