9 Grams of Ganja Seized from Inmate at Coimbatore Central Jail

Ganja was seized from an inmate during a routine search at Coimbatore Central Jail. The inmate, Rahim from Coimbatore, was found with 9 grams of ganja.


Coimbatore: In the latest crackdown on contraband inside prison facilities, the Coimbatore Central Jail authorities have confiscated 9 grams of cannabis from one of the inmates. The jail houses over 2,000 prisoners, both convicts and undertrials, and it is subject to frequent checks by police to curb illegal activities such as drug use and unauthorized cell phone usage.

During a routine search conducted by the police on June 6, they discovered ganja in room three of the Valmedu Block. Investigations revealed that the contraband belonged to a convict named Rahim, aged 32, from Coimbatore. Following the discovery, Jailor Saravanakumar filed a complaint at the Race Course Police Station, and a case has been registered against Rahim for possession of the illegal substance.
