Young Boy Drowns in Ambarampalayam River near Pollachi, Police Investigate

A tragic incident occurred in Ambarampalayam river near Pollachi where a young boy drowned while swimming. Fire service personnel retrieved the body after a prolonged search.


Coimbatore: In a heartrending episode near Pollachi, a group of five boys from Ukkadam area were enjoying their school holidays at the Ambarampalayam river. During their swim, one of the boys reportedly ventured into a deeper section of the water. Concerned locals soon alerted the fire department upon noticing the absence of the boy.

The fire service personnel, upon receiving the distress call, sprung into action and initiated a search operation in the river.



After an extended rescue effort, they were able to recover the body of 14-year-old Manikandan, a local resident from Ukkadam area.

Anaimalai Police Station officials have taken up the case and are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances leading to the drowning.
