Heavy Rainfall Causes Severe Flooding on Coimbatore-Dindigul Highway, Disrupts Traffic

Continuous heavy rainfall in the Udumalai and Madathukulam areas led to severe flooding on the Coimbatore-Dindigul National Highway, causing significant distress to motorists and local residents.

Tirupur: Heavy rains continue to batter the Udumalai and Madathukulam regions, causing significant flooding on the Coimbatore-Dindigul National Highway today. The incessant rainfall, which started this morning, has not only disrupted vehicle movement but also flooded nearby residential areas, causing hardship to the local populace.

The relentless downpour has led to waterlogging, severely affecting daily activities and exposing inadequate stormwater management in the area. Residents have reported that the ongoing rain and the resultant flooding have made the roads impassable, with many areas now under water.

Local authorities have been notified multiple times about the encroachments and the need for expansion of the road to facilitate better water drainage, yet action seems to be pending. The community feels neglected, as their repeated pleas for intervention have gone unheeded. This has sparked frustration among the residents who are forced to deal with the adverse effects of the flooding on their own.
