Residents of Bhuvaneswari Nagar in Annur protested on May 31 by blocking the Annur-Sathy road due to unaddressed waterlogging and locked drainage paths, causing severe traffic congestion.
Coimbatore: On May 31, the residents of Bhuvaneswari Nagar in the 5th Ward of Annur Municipality took to the streets in a blockade protest on the Annur-Sathy road. They protested against the persistent waterlogging issue and the blockage of stormwater drains by an individual.

The agitation caused a severe traffic jam along the key roadway, affecting daily commuters and local businesses.

In a follow-up to their grievances, the clogged pathways that impeded the rainwater from draining were opened yesterday, after DSP Namachivayam, Inspector Nithya, and Manikandan intervened. They witnessed the removal of the soil and debris that had been obstructing the water flow.

This action led to the conclusion of the protest, as the immediate issue was addressed. However, the residents have raised concerns about the recurring nature of this issue and seek a permanent resolution to prevent future disruptions.
