In Coimbatore, a 17-year-old boy was arrested for stealing Rs 10,000 from a fruit shop in Gandhipuram. The theft was confirmed through CCTV footage, leading to his arrest at Gandhipuram Bus Stand.
Coimbatore: In a recent incident at Gandhipuram, a teenage boy has been apprehended for stealing Rs 10,000 from a local fruit shop. Muthuvel, 55, who owns the shop situated near Gandhipuram Bus Stand, had reported the incident. He mentioned leaving the cash in the drawer on the evening of September 28 and discovering the theft the next morning.
Shankar, an employee at the shop, informed him that a 17-year-old boy from a neighboring shop was seen taking the money. Examination of CCTV footage confirmed the theft, which led Muthuvel and his employees to promptly search for the boy. They located him at the Gandhipuram Bus Stand on September 30, captured him, and handed him over to the Katoor Police Station.
The investigation revealed that the teenager hails from Yercaud, Salem District. Upon his arrest, he was sent to a juvenile reform facility, and Rs 1,700 was recovered from him.
