Two Passengers Die on Trains Arriving in Coimbatore; Calls for Medical Facilities at Stations

Two passengers died on separate trains arriving in Coimbatore, causing panic at the station and sparking calls for permanent medical facilities.

Coimbatore: In a distressing turn of events, two individuals lost their lives on different trains arriving in Coimbatore, highlighting the urgent need for improved medical facilities on trains and at railway stations.

On the morning of May 30, the Semmozhi Express from Thanjavur to Coimbatore Junction witnessed a tragic incident where a 52-year-old passenger named Kaja from Mannargudi near Thiruvarur suffered a severe health crisis. Despite the efforts to assist him, Kaja passed away as the train approached Coimbatore at 5:30 AM. Following his death, his wife, Poonguzhali, filed a report with the Coimbatore Railway Police, who are currently investigating the incident.

Similarly, on the night of May 29, a female passenger from West Bengal, traveling from Palakkad to Bengaluru on the Island Express, suddenly died as the train neared Coimbatore. These consecutive deaths have caused considerable unrest at the Coimbatore railway station. Additionally, local residents recall an incident from 10 days prior when Balakrishnan from Vadavalli died from a sudden heart attack while boarding a train in Coimbatore.

These repeated tragedies have intensified the demand among passengers for the establishment of permanent medical teams and facilities at railway stations to prevent such incidents in the future.
