In Coimbatore, Thondamuthur MLA and AIADMK leader SP Velumani initiated the chariot procession at Sri Sakthi Mariamman Temple Festival in Sugunapuram, dancing joyfully with devotees.
Coimbatore: The dynamic Sri Sakthi Mariamman Temple festival, held in the Sugunapuram area, observed the participation of notable figures including Thondamuthur MLA and AIADMK leader SP Velumani.
He inaugurated the prominent chariot procession at the festival. This ritual forms an essential part of the annual celebrations, engaging communities with spiritual fervor and cultural exhibitions.
During the event, Velumani led the procession by pushing the decorated chariot of Sri Sakthi Mariamman, actively dancing and accompanying the devotees through different sectors, including P.K. Pudur and Kovai Pudur, and along the main Palakkad road. The chariot, adorned magnificently, offered a divine view to the assembled devotees, embodying the festive spirit.
Further enriching the festival, numerous women participated in traditional offerings like carrying milk pots, flower pots, and performing 'Mulai Pari'. Amidst these devotions, the local youth engaged in Silambattam, a traditional martial art, adding vibrancy to the celebration.
As fireworks painted the sky, the entire Sugunapuram area transformed into a spectacle of spiritual and cultural jubilation, marking another memorable year for this cherished local event.
