A government college professor, Selin Rachel, was found deceased in her home in Perur, Coimbatore. The police are investigating after her husband reported her self-inflicted death.
Coimbatore: The Perur police have launched an intensive investigation following the tragic suicide of a college professor in Arumuga Goundanur area of Perur, Coimbatore. The deceased, identified as Selin Rachel, 29, was a faculty member at a government arts and science college. She lived with her husband, Vijay Kingsly, 30, their child, and Vijay’s mother in a rented accommodation. The couple, both natives of Tiruchendur, married in 2020 with their families’ consent.
Yesterday morning, Vijay left for work, and upon his return in the afternoon, he found the door locked from the inside and could not be opened despite repeated knocking. He could hear their child crying inside. Panicking, he alerted the police. Officers Gopalakrishnan and Kannadasan from the local police station forced open the door to discover Rachel had hanged herself with a scarf from the ceiling fan.
The body has been taken into custody and Inspector of Perur is leading the inquiry. The incident has left the community and the college in a state of deep shock.
