BJP Prominent's Home Robbed, False Claim of 1.5 Crore Loss Leads to Legal Action

In Coimbatore, police arrested a suspect within 24 hours of a reported robbery at BJP prominent Vijayakumar's home in Annur, where he falsely claimed a theft of 1.5 crore rupees.

Coimbatore: A shocking incident unfolded in Sokkampalayam near Annur when the home of a BJP prominent, Vijayakumar, was burglarized. Vijayakumar, who also runs a vehicle service shop in the area, reported to Annur Police that 1.5 crore rupees and 9 sovereigns of gold jewellery were stolen from his home.

Based on the complaint, the police led by DSP Balaji of Mettupalayam formed 10 special teams and swiftly conducted an investigation. Utilizing CCTV footage from the scene, they identified a suspect seen near Vijayakumar's home.

Further investigations revealed that Anbarasan was involved in over 20 theft cases across multiple districts. The police subsequently recovered the stolen items, and Anbarasan was detained and appeared in court on May 20.

In a subsequent investigation, it surfaced that Vijayakumar had exaggerated the amount to pressure the police, falsely claiming a loss of 1.5 crore rupees. SP Badrinayaranan later praised the rapid police response and issued certificates to the team members. He also emphasised the importance of truthful reporting in theft cases to ensure prompt police action and warned against misleading law enforcement. Legal actions under two sections are being initiated against Vijayakumar for misinforming the police.
