Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS conducted an on-site inspection of the stormwater drainage cleaning works in the southern, eastern, and central zones of Coimbatore on May 20, 2024, to prevent waterlogging.
Coimbatore: IAS M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, Corporation Commissioner of Coimbatore Municipal Corporation, has conducted an on-site inspection of the stormwater drainage cleaning operations. The visit on May 20, 2024, targeted the southern, eastern, and central zones of the city under his jurisdiction. This initiative forms part of the broader rainwater management efforts being implemented across 100 wards within the corporation limits.

The inspection included areas like the Saradha Mill Road in the southern zone and Ummar Nagar along Podanur Main Road.

Actions have been advised to ensure that the roads remain clear of water during the rainy season, focusing on a permanent solution to avoid water logging.

Additionally, the commissioner evaluated ongoing drainage works at Singanallur Bus Station in the eastern zone, Kaliyappa Mill Road underpass in the central zone, and Lanka Corner.

Measures are in place to clear all drain blockages and debris to facilitate smooth water flow.
During the inspection, the city's Chief Engineer Anbalagan, along with Assistant Commissioners Ilango (Po), and Kavitha. Senthilkumaran, Assistant Engineers Kanagaraj, Hemalatha, Prabhakaran, and several health officials including Andiappan, Paramasivam, and Gunasekaran were present to discuss various technical aspects of the project.
