His political career spanned several decades, beginning as early as 2001 when he served as the Mayor under the ADMK party until 2006. Following his tenure as mayor, he was elected as an MLA for two terms, showing a deep commitment to his constituents.

He was a staunch supporter of MGR and later Jayalalithaa, and even voiced support for Deepa as a guardian of the party’s legacy.
