Former Coimbatore MLA Tha. Malaravan Passes Away

Tha. Malaravan, former Mayor and MLA of Coimbatore, passed away at his residence in Ganapathy on 17th May 2024 due to old age and health issues.


Coimbatore: Tha. Malaravan, a significant political figure in Coimbatore, who formerly served as the Mayor of Coimbatore City Corporation and later as an MLA, passed away this morning at 11 AM. His political career spanned several decades, beginning as early as 2001 when he served as the Mayor under the ADMK party until 2006. Following his tenure as mayor, he was elected as an MLA for two terms, showing a deep commitment to his constituents.


Tha. Malaravan was a dedicated member of the ADMK right from its inception by M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) in 1972. He was a staunch supporter of MGR and later Jayalalithaa, and even voiced support for Deepa as a guardian of the party’s legacy. After a brief separation, he rejoined ADMK, further demonstrating his loyalty and dedication to the party and its ideals. His demise today at his residence in Ganapathy, due to old age and related health issues, marks the end of an era for many of his followers and the ADMK community.
