Coimbatore: A severe altercation over access to a street water tap in Periyakalandhai near Negamam escalated into violence, leading to the hospitalization of 60-year-old Mayilsamy. He was attacked by his neighbors, Sivakumar, aged 35, and Palanisamy, aged 37, using stones and their fists during the dispute on May 7, 2018.
Following the incident, Mayilsamy filed a complaint with Negamam Police. Sub-Inspectors Karthikeyan and Selvaraj arrested the brothers, leading to a legal battle at the Pollachi Judicial Magistrate Court No. 2. After thorough examination, on May 15, Judge Prakasam convicted Sivakumar to three years and seven months in prison along with a fine of INR 1000, while his brother Palanisamy received four years and one month along with the same fine.
