On 14th May 2024, Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati and Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran inspected canal cleaning in different zones, enhancing urban water management.
Coimbatore: In a move to enhance urban water management, Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, IAS, and Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran, IAS, conducted inspections on canal cleaning operations across different zones on May 14, 2024.

The inspections were carried out in the southern zone at Andipalayam division, in the eastern zone at Rama Chettipalayam area, and in the western zone at Kavundampalayam Sanganoor Pallam.

These visits aimed at overseeing the efficiency and progress of the ongoing canal cleaning efforts which are crucial for preventing water logging and facilitating proper drainage in the city. The officials were accompanied by Assistant Commissioner (PA) Ilankovan, Assistant Engineer Kanagaraj, and Assistant Engineer Savitha, who are integral to the project execution.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that Coimbatore’s waterways are well-maintained, supporting the city's infrastructure and health of its microenvironments. Regular inspections and maintenance of canals play a vital role in managing seasonal floods and maintaining hygienic conditions in urban areas.
