Amaravathi Dam In Udumalai Faces Zero Water Inflow; Drinking Water Shortage Feared

The Amaravathi Dam in Udumalai, Tiruppur district, reports zero water inflow as of this morning, raising concerns over potential drinking water shortages in Tiruppur and Karur districts during the upcoming summer season.


Coimbatore: In a concerning development, the Amaravathi Dam located in Udumalai within the Tiruppur district has reported zero water inflow as of 6 AM today. The affected catchment areas like Marayur, Kanthalloor, and Dhuvanam, which had seen significant rainfall a few months ago, are now witnessing a severe decline in water inflow. The dam, which had maintained substantial water levels due to previous rains, has seen a drastic reduction in water inflow in recent days caused by a lack of rainfall.
