Coimbatore: Karpagam College of Pharmacy (KCP) in Othakalamandapam, joined hands with local authorities to launch an awareness campaign against the adverse effects of the summer heat. On Thursday, May 2, 2024, the Department of Pharmacy Practice at KCP hosted an educational event at Arisipalayam village to address heat-related health risks and promote hydration among rural populations.
The initiative was spearheaded by the President of Arisipalayam Panchayat Council, Ganesan. Dr.S. Mohan, the principal of KCP, inaugurated the event by handing out buttermilk, a traditional drink known as 'Neer Mor', to help attendees cope with dehydration and heat. The distribution of informative pamphlets provided vital health tips and preventative measures to the villagers.
Faculty members from KCP, including professors and assistant professors, as well as fifth-year Pharm.D students, actively participated in the event. Their involvement highlighted the significance of community engagement in managing public health during extreme weather conditions. Associate Professor and HOD K.Senthil Kumar played a crucial role in coordinating this successful outreach initiative.
