Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Vice Chancellor predicts excellent southwest monsoon this year, boosting agriculture. Online applications for agricultural courses start today.

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) Vice Chancellor Dr. V. Geethalakshmi forecasted a robust southwest monsoon this year, which could significantly benefit agricultural operations across the state.

During a press meet at the university in Coimbatore, she provided insights on the newest academic admissions and the expectations for upcoming rains.

Dr. Geethalakshmi mentioned that, compared to the scanty rainfall during the previous season, the coming days are expected to bring good rains which may start within the next three days. This anticipation of better rainfall is predicted to lead to improved cultivation and a successful harvesting season.

Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor launched the online application portal for various agricultural courses offered by TNAU. She highlighted that the university, with its 120 years of legacy, comprises 18 constituent colleges and 28 affiliated colleges, operating under its umbrella. The application portal for student admissions in undergraduate, diploma, and research programs went live today, providing new opportunities for aspiring students in agricultural sciences.

Dr. Geethalakshmi explained that all student admissions for TNAU, Annamalai University, and Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University will be conducted through the portal tnagfi.ucanapply.com. Students are urged to submit their applications by June 6.

The Vice Chancellor also addressed the advanced applications of AI technology in agriculture and horticulture, emphasizing the university's focus on using robotic tools for harvesting and other agricultural operations. Career prospects for agriculture graduates are promising, with numerous positions available in government sectors and private enterprises concentrating on agricultural exports and quality control.

Dr. Geethalakshmi reassured farmers and agriculturists that the TNAU is committed to providing training and advice on water management to tackle various challenges, such as shortage scenarios and pest attacks, ensuring the sustainability and growth of the agricultural sector in Tamil Nadu.
