Two Arrested for Illicit Tobacco Trafficking in Dharapuram

In Dharapuram, Tirupur district, two individuals, including a woman, were arrested with 12 kg of illicit tobacco products during a police patrol.


Tirupur: Following tip-offs about rampant illegal tobacco sales in the vicinity of Dharapuram, the local police, led by Assistant Inspector Sivaraj, intensified patrols in various parts of the town. During one such patrol near the bus station, they noticed two suspicious individuals, Saudha Kani, a 35-year-old from Palani, Dindigul district, alongside her husband Syed Ibrahim, and Mohammad Rafiq, a 47-year-old from Dharapuram.

When questioned, illegal tobacco products were discovered in their possession. Consequently, both Saudha Kani and Mohammad Rafiq were arrested and detained. Authorities seized 12 kilograms of illicit tobacco products from them.
