The India Ottrumai Iyakkam has submitted a petition seeking to ban PM Modi from election campaigning, alleging his speeches incite religious tension and pose threats to minority safety.
Coimbatore: As the national parliamentary elections draw near, Prime Minister Modi continues to campaign across various states. During his campaigns, Modi's statements have faced opposition from Congress members and leaders of the India coalition.
In a recent campaign rally in Rajasthan, PM Modi was accused by the opposition of twisting former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's statements to convey that Muslims have primary rights over the nation's assets, prompting allegations of hate speech and incitement of religious tension. The India Ottrumai Iyakkam has criticized such statements, claiming they undermine peace, stoke religious conflicts, and threaten the safety of minorities.

Consequently, representatives of the India Ottrumai Iyakkam in Coimbatore, including coordinators Nehru Das, Professor Kamaraj, and Dennis Kovilpillai, have approached the District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati and the Election Officer, demanding immediate intervention. They insisted on disqualifying PM Modi from participating in further electoral campaigning, and also suggested his disqualification from contesting in the elections to uphold peace and order during the election period.
