Near Valparai, a worker named Veeramani climbed an electricity tower at Iyarpadi Estate as part of a protest, following administrative issues at the tea plantation. Authorities intervened to safely bring him down.
Coimbatore: A dramatic protest unfolded near Valparai at the Iyarpadi Estate, where a 55-year-old worker, Veeramani, ascended an electric tower on Thursday morning. Employed permanently in the estate's tea plantation, Veeramani took this extreme step in response to an internal conflict with a coworker and subsequent show-cause notice from the estate management.
Veeramani’s actions stem from recent disputes with another worker which, according to him, were unfairly handled by the estate management. Asserting that he had done no wrong and that the management was biased, Veeramani resorted to the protest, leading to a tense situation at the site.

Police officials alongside the Fire and Rescue services and the Labour Department officers arrived at the scene to negotiate and eventually managed to bring him down safely. Following the event, Valparai Police have filed a case and are conducting further investigations to resolve the matters at hand.
