Recently, the price for a single tender coconut has been raised to Rs. 39, while the farm price per ton reached Rs. 15,500.
This escalation is attributed to the rampant demand in Tamil Nadu and neighboring Kerala. Anaimalai Tender Coconut Producers Association reported that the intense summer temperatures have increased coconut consumption significantly. Last week’s price was escalated by Rs. 1 per coconut due to the thriving demand and limited supply.
The scarcity of tender coconuts in the market has sparked fierce competition among traders, forcing them to pay premium prices. The shortage is severe enough that further price increases are expected next week.
