Major Free Artificial Limb Distribution Camp Held in Coimbatore

Coimbatore hosted a large free artificial limb measurement camp by Narayan Seva Sansthan, aiding over a thousand differently-abled individuals from various parts, including neighboring states.

Coimbatore: A significant camp for the free distribution of artificial limbs was organized in Coimbatore, drawing participation from over a thousand differently-abled people from various districts of Tamil Nadu and neighboring states like Karnataka and Kerala. The camp was held at the Maheshwari Bhavan area in Somayampalayam, K.N.G. Pudur.

The camp, the first of its kind in Tamil Nadu by Narayan Seva Sansthan—a charitable organization based in Udaipur, Rajasthan, known for its global outreach in Africa as well—measured and assessed the needs for prosthetic limbs. The medical team, led by Dr. Neha, Dr. Anikta, and Dr. Ramnath Thakur, comprised 20 specialists who conducted detailed assessments of all attendees.

The measurements taken for artificial limbs and calipers at the camp are to ensure that custom-made devices can be provided at the next camp in Coimbatore, scheduled three months later, as stated by the camp coordinator, Hari Prasad Lath.

The opening ceremony of the camp saw the participation of several dignitaries including Gopal Maheswari, leader of the Maheswari community, Santosh Mundada, Secretary of Maheswari Bhavan, Rajat Gaur, leader of Mahagangotri, and Bhagwan Prasad Gaur, a spokesperson for Mewar.
