Tamilisai Soundararajan Questions Rahul Gandhi's Whereabouts During Elections

Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed concerns about missing voter identities and unaddressed issues in the election process during a press meet in Coimbatore airport.

Coimbatore: Former Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, while addressing reporters at the Coimbatore airport, questioned the absence of Rahul Gandhi during crucial election times, hinting at international trips. She highlighted the recently concluded elections as smooth but was concerned about several lakh voters being deprived of their rights despite holding valid voter IDs. "The pain of being denied the right to vote, even when holding a voter ID card in hand, is quite distressing," she stated.

Soundararajan criticized the discrepancies in voter list updates, which led to many missing out on their voting rights. She pointed out the role of the Election Commission and lamented that it could have been more vigilant. The former governor also mentioned the targeted support of Congress towards specific communities, with an emphasis on cultivating a protective image among them.

Talks moved to how the ruling parties and alliances maintain silence over the missing democratic rights of citizens. The former governor expressed disappointment over DMK and its coalition’s silence regarding the lack of response from the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin about numerous voters being left off the voter lists and not addressing their grievances during a crucial election.

She noted that democracy seems compromised, and it is concerning that significant voices in the state politics are not outspoken about these critical issues, hinting at intentional disregard.
