Coimbatore: With the Parliamentary elections slated for April 19 drawing closer, political activities in Coimbatore are heating up. Among the contenders, DMK's Ganapathy Rajkumar, AIADMK's Singai Ramachandran, and BJP's Annamalai are vying for votes. As part of their campaigning, candidates are engaging in various public interactions across the city.

In a notable move on March 23, Ganapathy Rajkumar, the DMK candidate, visited the Sacred Heart Cathedral located in the Town Hall area. He met with Archbishop Thomas Aquinas of the Coimbatore Diocese. During his visit, Rajkumar presented a shawl and a bouquet to the Archbishop, symbolizing respect and seeking support for the upcoming elections. The gesture reflects an effort to connect with the religious community and garner blessings and support.

This engagement highlights the importance candidates place on inclusive support from all sections of society, including religious leaders, as they approach the final stages of their election campaign. The visit by Ganapathy Rajkumar to the cathedral and his meeting with Archbishop Aquinas emphasize the role of communal harmony and respect for different faith traditions in the democratic electoral process.
