New Train Services Between Mettupalayam-Tuticorin and Mangaluru-Rameswaram Announced

The Tuticorin-Metupalayam Express will operate on Thursdays and Fridays, with scheduled stops at major stations including Coimbatore and Madurai, while the Mangaluru-Rameswaram Express is set to run on Saturdays



Coimbatore: The Government of India's Ministry of Railways has released a notification announcing the introduction of new train services to improve connectivity in Tamil Nadu. The notification, issued on 15th March 2024, approves two new train routes: the 16766 Tuticorin-Metupalayam Express and the 16622 Mangaluru-Rameswaram Express.

The Tuticorin-Metupalayam Express will operate on Thursdays and Fridays, with scheduled stops at major stations including Coimbatore and Madurai, while the Mangaluru-Rameswaram Express is set to run on Saturdays. These trains will make commercial stops at strategic locations en route, providing increased travel options for commuters.

The Tuticorin-Metupalayam Express will provide convenience for passengers with its operation on Thursdays and Fridays, including commercial stops at Kovilpatti, Satur, Virudunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Oddanchatram, Palani, Udumalaippettai, and Pollachi. Similarly, the Mangaluru-Rameswaram Express, scheduled for Saturdays, will stop at Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Shoranur, Palakkad, Pollachi, Dindigul, Madurai, and Manamadurai en route

In addition to introducing these new services, the notification also includes the discontinuation of special trains from Tuticorin and Thirunelveli on Sundays and maintenance details for the trains. The Ministry has called for wide publicity of the new services to ensure public awareness and compliance with the updated schedule.

The implementation of these services is a strategic move to facilitate travel for passengers and to address the demand for improved train connectivity in the region. Commuters have welcomed the announcement, anticipating more convenience for their travel plans.
