Railways Extend 3 MEMU Trips from Mettupalayam to Podanur Daily

The Ministry of Railways has announced the extension of 3 MEMU train trips from Mettupalayam to Podanur, ensuring better connectivity for daily commuters.


Coimbatore: In a significant move to enhance rail connectivity for the residents of Coimbatore, the Ministry of Railways has approved the extension of 3 MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train services from Mettupalayam to Podanur. The decision, outlined in a notification from the Railway Board, specifies the updated schedule and stops for these extended trips.

According to the document issued by the Railway Board on 15th March 2024, the daily MEMU services numbered 06009/06812, 06815/06816, and 06822/06823, which previously ran between Mettupalayam and Coimbatore, will now reach Podanur, offering additional convenience for passengers.

The extended services are scheduled to commence at an early and convenient date, with a mandate for wide publicity to ensure the public is informed. Compliance with the new timings is crucial, as emphasized in the urgent notice sent to various officials and departments. The Railway Board has made it a priority to provide better transport facilities and to meet the increasing demand for local rail transport in the region.
