Wild Elephants Damage Car on Valparai Aliyar Road, Occupants Escape with Minor Injuries

In Valparai, a car was attacked by three wild elephants crossing the road, resulting in significant damage and minor injuries to the occupants. The incident has raised concerns over wildlife movement in the area.

Coimbatore: The Valparai region of Coimbatore district experienced a tense moment last night when a car was severely damaged by three wild elephants. The incident occurred around 1:00 AM on the Valparai Aliyar Road, heightening fears among drivers about the increasing wildlife activity in the surrounding areas.

Suresh, a resident of Valparai, was returning from Palani in his Omni car after a rental trip. As he was passing the Aliyar checkpoint, three elephants that had ventured out of the nearby forest suddenly crossed the road and attacked his vehicle. The collision caused extensive damage to the car, shattering the glass windows and denting the body.

The occupants of the car managed to escape with only minor injuries, thanks to the driver’s quick actions to navigate the vehicle away from further harm. The driver succeeded in bringing everyone safely back to Valparai, albeit shaken by the ordeal.

This alarming incident has sparked significant concern among the local community and authorities, prompting the Forest Department to issue warnings for drivers to exercise extreme caution while traveling on the Aliyar Road during night hours, given the increased movement of wild elephants in the area.
