Construction of a 52-Foot Kundam at Anaimalai Masani Amman Temple for the Annual Festival

Anaimalai Masani Amman Temple initiates the construction of a 52-foot long Kundam for the temple festival on February 24, with rituals including Kundam preparation, chariot rope pulling, and flower decoration scheduled throughout the day.


Coimbatore: The Anaimalai Masani Amman Temple witnessed the commencement of a significant ritualistic event this morning at 10:00 AM, February 24, marking the beginning of the construction of a 52-foot long Kundam in anticipation of the temple’s annual festival. The construction ceremony saw the participation of the temple’s traditional patrons, who engaged in the preparatory activities.

The Kundam, measuring 11 feet in width and 52 feet in length, was meticulously prepared by the temple patrons. Following the construction, the temple has scheduled several rituals throughout the day, including the pulling of the chariot rope later at 6:00 PM and the flower decoration ceremony set to take place after 10:00 PM tonight.

The culmination of these festivities, the Kundam lowering ceremony, is eagerly awaited and is scheduled to begin at 6:00 AM tomorrow, February 25. These rituals are an integral part of the temple’s annual festival, drawing devotees from across the region to participate in and witness the traditional ceremonies.
