Coimbatore: A routine vehicle inspection on Balasundaram Road by traffic police turned confrontational when an auto driver, stopped for document verification, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The situation escalated when the driver, upon being asked to alight for further examination, verbally abused the policemen. This led to a heated argument between the two parties. In the heat of the moment, a traffic policeman struck the auto driver, prompting a physical response from the driver. The altercation intensified as other traffic policemen joined in, eventually forcing the auto driver away from the scene.

Videos of the incident have since gone viral on social media, drawing public attention to the conduct of both the traffic policemen and the auto driver involved.
