Coimbatore Receives Two Acres of Land for Kabrastan Fulfilling Long-standing Demand of the Muslim Community

In Coimbatore, a long-standing demand of the Muslim community for a Kabrastan was met with the allocation of two acres of land to Jamaat administrators, marking a significant development for residents in areas like Saibaba Colony, Vadavalli, and Goundampalayam.

Coimbatore: The Muslim community in Coimbatore, residing in areas such as Saibaba Colony, Vadavalli, and Goundampalayam, has long advocated for a dedicated Kabrastan (burial ground). Their plea for land allocation was addressed to the Minister for Minorities, Senji Masthan, who acted promptly by discussing with the district administration, leading to the allotment of land. Recently, a two-acre plot in the Sanganur area was officially handed over for Kabrastan use by the Tamil Nadu government.

The formal handover ceremony was conducted at the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation West Zone office by Assistant Commissioner Sandhya, District Wakf Board Supervisor Haider Ali, All Jamaat General Secretary Muhammad Ali, and Multi-Religious Harmony Movement Leader Muhammad Rabi.

Muhammad Rabi, during the event, expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Minister Senji Masthan, the district administration, and municipal authorities on behalf of all Jamaats for fulfilling a request that spanned over three decades. He also mentioned the uplifting impact of the recent budget announcements, including the construction of Tidal Park and the Kalaignar Library in Coimbatore, which are expected to benefit thousands of residents.
