The individuals, identified as Santosh Kumar (42), a resident of Kerala, and Arun (29), were arrested on December 11, 2023, by the Prohibition Enforcement Wing in Periyanayakanpalayam for their illicit operations.

In a significant crackdown against illegal liquor manufacturing in Coimbatore district, law enforcement authorities have apprehended two persons involved in the production and sale of adulterated alcoholic beverages. The operation was centered in the Karamadai area, where the illegal activity was discovered. The individuals, identified as Santosh Kumar (42), a resident of Kerala, and Arun (29), were arrested on December 11, 2023, by the Prohibition Enforcement Wing in Periyanayakanpalayam for their illicit operations.

The arrests came after a detailed investigation into the duo's activities, revealing their engagement in the contravention of established laws by producing and distributing spurious liquor. Based on the findings, Coimbatore District Police Superintendent Badrinayaranan recommended the invocation of the Goondas Act against the accused, underscoring the seriousness of their offenses.

Subsequently, Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati issued orders to detain Santosh Kumar and Arun under the Goondas Act, a preventive detention law aimed at habitual offenders posing a threat to public order and safety. The legal action underscores the administration's commitment to curbing the menace of illegal liquor in the region and safeguarding public health.

The directive to incarcerate the accused under the Goondas Act was delivered while they were already in custody, marking a decisive step towards addressing the challenges posed by unlawful liquor manufacturing and sale in Coimbatore. The move is part of broader efforts to enforce law and order and protect the well-being of the community.
