Coimbatore: In a recent incident at the Coimbatore Government Hospital, a man was arrested for attempting to steal a purse from a patient receiving treatment in the Neurology ward. The accused, identified as Munisamy (39) from Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district, was caught in the act on February 7.
The victim, Maragatham (36), wife of Rajan from Mettupalayam M.S.R.Puram, was admitted to the hospital due to health issues. She noticed the theft attempt when Munisamy stealthily tried to take her purse from under her pillow. Maragatham's alertness and her immediate cry for help prompted bystanders to swiftly intervene. They managed to catch Munisamy and, after a brief confrontation, handed him over to the Race Course Police Station.
Upon investigation, the police confirmed Munisamy's identity and proceeded with his arrest. Further inquiries are underway to determine if Munisamy has been involved in any other criminal activities.
