POCSO Court Sentences Offender to 20 Years Imprisonment and Imposes Fine

A POCSO court in Coimbatore sentenced Anand, a 49-year-old man, to 20 years in prison and a fine of Rs. 10,000 for sexual assault on a minor.


Coimbatore: The POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Court has concluded a significant case by sentencing the accused to a severe punishment. Anand, a 49-year-old resident of Kaveri Nagar in Coimbatore, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl.

The case, registered at the Women's Police Station, underwent a detailed investigation leading to the trial at the POCSO Court. After a comprehensive hearing, the judge delivered the verdict, imposing a harsh penalty on Anand.

For the sexual assault on the minor, the court sentenced him to 20 years of imprisonment and levied a fine of Rs. 10,000. Additionally, for threatening the child with murder if she revealed the assault to her parents, Anand received a one-year imprisonment sentence and a fine of Rs. 1,000.

This judgement reflects the court's commitment to delivering justice in cases involving crimes against children and serves as a strong message against such heinous acts.
