Alcohol Sales in Coimbatore Hit ₹50 Crores During Pongal Festival

Coimbatore district records a staggering ₹50 crore in alcohol sales over four days during the Pongal festival, with significant sales in hotels, clubs, and elite bars.


Coimbatore: In a record-breaking sale during the Pongal festival, Coimbatore district has witnessed alcohol sales amounting to ₹50 crores over four days, excluding Tuesday. The sales were divided between the North Circle with ₹28 crores and the South Circle with ₹22 crores. Additionally, hotels, clubs, and elite bars in the area reportedly sold over ₹10 crores worth of alcohol per day. This surge in sales indicates a high demand for alcoholic beverages during the festive season in the region.
