PMK's grand Maattu Pongal celebration in Udumalai, Tirupur District, honors cattle for their contribution to agriculture, following the guidance of Dr. Ramadoss.

Coimbatore: The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) in Udumalai, near Tirupur District, celebrated Maattu Pongal with traditional fervor, following the advice of party leader Dr. Ramadoss and Anbumani Ramadoss. The event took place in Andiya Goundanoor village, Kizhavan Kaattur, under the leadership of Tirupur West District PMK Secretary, Palanisamy.

According to Palanisamy, the celebration was a gesture of gratitude towards cattle, which play a crucial role in farming throughout the year. Cattle were decorated and offered 18 types of food, adhering to the traditional way of celebrating Maattu Pongal. This practice also highlights the significant role of Dr. Ramadoss in advocating for the welfare of farmers, recognized as a leader who genuinely cares for their wellbeing and has proposed a separate budget for agriculture.

The celebrations witnessed the participation of local PMK leaders including the Policy Explanation Team Leader Ramalingam, Udumalai East Union Secretary Sivabalu, Media Council District Secretary Kanagaraj, and other PMK administrators like Thandapani, Kumar, Hariharan, and Karthik, along with a large gathering of farmers.

The event in Udumalai exemplifies the traditional celebration of Maattu Pongal, where the community comes together to honor and thank the cattle, acknowledging their vital contribution to agriculture and rural livelihoods.
