The Ukkadam flyover in Coimbatore is expected to be fully operational by the end of next month, except for one ramp, with major deck work completed.
Coimbatore: The much-anticipated Ukkadam flyover project in Coimbatore city is on the verge of completion, with expectations set for the end of next month, barring one ramp. District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati informed that the laying of the deck slabs has been completed and the construction of access ramps is currently underway.

The ramp from Ukkadam bypass road (Valankulam road) is pending, awaiting the relocation of Ukkadam bus stand. Tenders have already been floated for constructing an alternative structure for the bus stand. "The majority of the flyover works are expected to be wrapped up by the end of January," said Pati. He warned that the district road safety committee might recommend action against the contractor and engineers if the project extends beyond the deadline.

Officials associated with the project revealed that the flyover's construction is almost finished, and a trial run is anticipated within a month. Spanning 3.8 km from Oppanakara Street to Athupalam Junction, the flyover is being built at a cost of ₹280 crores.

The project, initiated in two phases, was originally slated for completion in July this year, then rescheduled to the end of December.
"The deck work, which is a significant portion of the project, is now complete. Only the approach roads are pending and are expected to be ready in a month," the officials commented, signaling the near end of this significant urban development project in Coimbatore.
