Cotton Auction at Mulanur Regulated Market Brings High Turnout and Competitive Pricing

Mulanur Regulated Market in Tirupur district hosted a concealed cotton auction, with 129 farmers and 12 traders participating. The highest bid reached ₹7,677 per quintal.


In a significant event for the agricultural sector, the Mulanur Regulated Market in Tirupur district recently hosted a concealed auction for cotton sales. This auction drew the participation of 129 farmers from districts including Tirupur, Karur, Trichy, Dindigul, Erode, and Coimbatore, who brought their cotton for sale.

Merchants from Tirupur, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, and Coimbatore districts actively participated in the auction. The bidding saw the highest price for a quintal of cotton reaching ₹7,677, the lowest at ₹6,200, and the average price standing at ₹6,700.

The total amount of cotton auctioned was 1168 bales, equivalent to 401.78 quintals, valuing ₹26,23,570. A total of 12 traders participated in the concealed auction. This information was shared by the Senior Secretary (Marketing), Tirupur Sales Group, Dharmaraj. The auction arrangements were meticulously overseen by Supervisor Sivakumar.

This event marks a critical juncture in the cotton trade, reflecting the robust nature of the market and the significant role of agricultural produce in the regional economy.
