Public Welfare Initiatives Inspected by Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner inspects public welfare projects in various city areas, focusing on drainage, roads, and water supply.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Prathap personally inspected various public welfare projects undertaken in different areas of the northern region of the Coimbatore municipal ward.



These projects included clean water initiatives, mosquito eradication efforts, and road construction projects valued at INR 47 lakhs in the central municipal ward. The Commissioner observed these ongoing projects, ensuring their quality and timely completion.



In the Langa Corner area, the Commissioner visited the local college premises where he evaluated the progress of initiatives related to clean water supply. He interacted with engineers and workers, emphasizing the importance of adhering to quality standards. The inspection extended to the installation of drainage systems to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season. The Commissioner also directed officials to address issues related to water stagnation promptly.



Continuing his inspection, Commissioner Prathap visited the Ammanipalayam, Gandhipuram, and Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai areas, where Tamil Nadu Urban Road Infrastructure Project (TURIP) initiatives were in progress. Under TURIP 2023-24, significant road development work was taking place. In the Ammanipalayam area, a road stretching 470 meters received a funding of INR 21 lakhs. Similarly, roads measuring 150 meters in Gandhipuram, and 330 meters in Ram Nagar and Sarojini Street, were allocated funds of INR 10.50 lakhs and INR 15.50 lakhs respectively. Commissioner Prathap closely monitored the work and urged the contractors to complete the projects within the specified timelines.



Additionally, in the Langa Corner area, further initiatives were underway to address waterlogging concerns during the monsoon. The Commissioner examined these projects and ensured that appropriate measures were taken to enhance drainage systems and prevent flooding. He emphasized the importance of these measures, especially in flood-prone areas, to minimize the impact of heavy rainfall on local residents.

The Commissioner's inspection was not limited to infrastructure projects alone. He also took a keen interest in public health initiatives, especially those aimed at eradicating mosquito breeding grounds. In various localities, including Anchari Street and Ramanagar, measures were undertaken to control the spread of diseases transmitted by mosquitoes. The Commissioner directed officials to intensify these efforts and encouraged residents to cooperate in keeping their surroundings clean and mosquito-free.



In conclusion, Commissioner M. Prathap's meticulous inspection underscored the Coimbatore Corporation's commitment to enhancing public welfare.



His proactive approach towards overseeing these projects ensures that the residents of Coimbatore receive essential services and infrastructure that significantly contribute to their overall well-being and safety.
