Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar Enlightens Hundreds in Karpagam College of Engineering

In an insightful event organized by the Institution of Engineers, Coimbatore, experts from the Cyber Crime Wing educated 120 participants on cybersecurity threats, prevention, and detection strategies in KCE.


In Coimbatore, the Institution of Engineers (India), Coimbatore Local Centre, organized a significant event on October 14, 2023. The event, titled "DEFEND, DETECT AND DEFEAT: A CYBER SECURITY AWARENESS," was a technical lecture held in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security) at Karpagam College of Engineering, Coimbatore.



D Suresh, Additional Superintendent of Police, and his team from the Cyber Crime Wing, Coimbatore District, were the guest speakers for the event. The lecture focused on various aspects of cybersecurity, including defending against cyber-attacks, detecting potential threats, and defeating them. Participants were educated about prevalent cyber threats such as phishing, malicious code, weak passwords, outdated software vulnerabilities, and the use of removable media.



The event commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. S Shanmugam, Chairman of IE(I), Coimbatore Local Centre. Dr. J Krishnamoorthi, Honorary Secretary of IE(I) Coimbatore Local Centre, delivered the Presidential Address. Dr. V Kumar Chinnaiyan, Principal of Karpagam College of Engineering, felicitated the occasion, and Dr. P Karthik Kumar, IE(I) Institutional Coordinator, introduced the guest speaker.

During the event, Anand, Sub-Inspector of Police (Technical) from the Cyber Crime Wing, Coimbatore District, engaged with the participants, addressing their queries and enhancing their understanding of the discussed topics. Approximately 120 students and faculty members actively participated in the seminar.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. S Logeswari, Head of the Department, CSE (Cyber Security), Karpagam College of Engineering, Coimbatore.
