Balakrishnan further elaborated that the cameras play a crucial role in crime prevention and detection. The footage obtained not only assists in tracking stolen vehicles but also aids in identifying culprits involved in criminal activities. The Commissioner emphasized that the Coimbatore City Police have taken significant steps to leverage technology for enhancing public safety and maintaining law and order.

Currently, Coimbatore City Police operate 14,800 out of the 25,000 cameras installed throughout the city, covering various streets and public spaces.
