All allegations against the Coimbatore mayor will be investigated - Minister S Muthusamy

Speaking after attending a function to present the kalaignar's Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme at Karpagam University in Coimbatore, Minister S Muthusamy said that the allegations against the mayor and her family will be investigated.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore district in-charge minister S Muthusamy has said that an inquiry will be conducted into the allegations against the mayor and her family.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday launched kalaignar's Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme, followed by distribution of women's rights in all districts.

As part of this, a programme was held at Karpagam University on Pollachi Road in Coimbatore district to present the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme.

Tamil Nadu Housing Board Minister Muthusamy participated in the function and distributed the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai to the beneficiaries.

Speaking to reporters after the event, the minister said, “The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has taken great care of the project and is talking to the officials. Today, the scheme reaches more than one crore mothers. The petitions have been received and examined and a section of the candidates have been selected. The Chief Minister has also given an opportunity to those who have left out to appeal.

Other states are also looking at the schemes of Tamil Nadu and trying to implement them. Money has been flowing into the bank accounts of many since yesterday. A total of 1.6 crore people have been selected as beneficiaries. We are adding those who are left out.

Moreover, the figures will be available only when the bulk arrives. It will take some time to give district-wise information. In a few places the information of the beneficiaries is sought. Similar information came in Erode. If anyone asks for information, don't tell me, you have to ask the authorities. Beneficiaries should be cautious.

The Mayor of Coimbatore Corporation was told that she was unwell, so he did not turn up for today's programmes. I think they would have gone to the hospital.

Replying to a question on the recent mayor's family issue, the minister said, I cannot answer to those who have differing opinions on the mayor and her family. None of the DMK councillors have complained to me. I am the minister in charge, I will inquire responsibly and then tell you.

Ask to good things. Don't just criticise. I will answer in the next meeting knowing that the allegations against the mayor can be investigated and what is the case.

Also, sanitation workers who are in outsourcing mode are eligible for the scheme, has there been any complaint in the complaint number given by BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan about Coimbatore Corporation? If that's the case, tell them to send it to us. We are taking action.

It would be nice if they could say something about this project. This project is not conducted indirectly. The media is there to reach out to the people.

There is a great deal of satisfaction among the people through this. The scheme is being implemented even though the finance sector is in a tough situation. This is what he said.
