Leopard found dead in Masinagudi

A six-year-old leopard was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Banana plantation section on the Masinagudi-Ooty road. The forest department is conducting an autopsy with the help of veterinarians and investigating the cause of death.


The Nilgiris: In a shocking incident, a six-year-old leopard was found dead under mysterious circumstances near Masinagudi in the Nilgiris district.

Mudumalai Tiger Reserve is located in the Nilgiris district. Forest department officials were patrolling the Masinagudi division here. There was a foul smell on the Masinagudi-Ooty road road under Singara forest range.

Following this, the forest department visited the banana plantation section. A six-year-old female leopard was found dead in a locality. The field director of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve was informed in this regard.

Based on the information, officials rushed to the spot and inspected the spot. Subsequently, the post-mortem of the leopard was carried out by veterinary doctors.

The details of how the leopard died will be known only after the post-mortem.

Nevertheless, was it seriously injured and died after being attacked by a fellow animal? Or is it because of some other reason? Forest department officials are investigating the matter.
