Tirupur: The death of a cow after being attacked by a wild elephant in Kaattuppatti hill village near Udumalpet has created panic and grief among the people of the area.

Udumalai and Amaravathi forest ranges are located in the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve near Udumalai in Tirupur district. A large number of tribal people live in the hilly habitations of Thalinji, Thalinjivayal, Attumalai, Eesalthattu, Poruparu, Kodandur, Gurumalai, Mavadappu, Manjampatti, kaattuppatti, Keezhavayal, Karumutti, Poochakottamparai, Kulipatti and Mullupatti.

Their main occupation is agriculture. But due to water scarcity in the summer season, it is not possible to function effectively in cultivation work. At this stage, animal husbandry is helping the tribal people in all situations. As a result, the tribal people are rearing cattle including goats, cows and chickens.

In this situation, Sadayan, a native of Kaattupatti hill station, is rearing cows.

It appears that he had kept the cows locked up in the bar.

An elephant came there and attacked a cow.

The seriously injured cow died on the spot. This has shocked the tribal people who rear cattle. They have also appealed for adequate relief for the loss caused by the elephant's attack.
