Bison dies after falling into water tank near Valparai

On receiving the information, the Forest Department officials led by Valparai Forest Ranger Venkatesh and the estate management were able to recover the carcass from the water tank after many hours.



Coimbatore: A 20-feet deep water tank had been set up at Pachaimalai Estate near Valparai in Coimbatore district for the use of drinking water for labourers.



Water is being supplied through machines to the workers in the morning and evening, with the water tank also being fenced for safe functioning.



On Saturday night, a bison fell into the water tank and died. A labourer who had arrived at the estate on Sunday moring to supply water, saw the dead bison inside the water tank and informed the Forest Department.



On receiving the information, the Forest Department officials led by Valparai Forest Ranger Venkatesh and the estate management were able to recover the carcass from the water tank after many hours and then buried it.



The water in the tank has since been cleaned fordistribution to the public.
