ED and Income Tax Department are under the control of Annamalai - CPI state secretary Mutharasan

Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, he said, “even before the raid on Senthil Balaji's house took place, BJP state president Annamalai's statement that now a minister will implicate several ministers in the future, raises doubts as to whether the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax Department are under Annamalai's control.”

Coimbatore: Communist Party of India (CPI) state secretary K Mutharasan has alleged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Income Tax Department are not functioning independently under the BJP rule.

Communist Party of India state secretary Mutharasan addressed the media in Coimbatore.

Then he spoke,

Our country is a democratic country and how it should function is by the constitution. Whoever may be in power, all of them should respect it in accordance with the Constitution and accept its guidance and act according to it. Only then will the unity and integrity of the country be preserved.

But gradually after Narendra Modi came to power, there is a growing tendency now to break constitutional laws and act arbitrarily. In particular, Hitler, who was responsible for The Second World War, and those who were with him, millions of people died because of the action and dictatorship. Just like Hitler, there is an alliance between Modi and Amit Shah here.

They are doing bad things. Our Constitution has given freedom of expression to every citizen living in the nation. But the Modi-Amit Shah alliance has no room for dissent, we have to listen to what they have to say. We have to accept the law that they are putting in place, otherwise they will take action.

In particular, agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax Department are independent entities. But now these are against the Bharatiya Janata Party, especially in states where the BJP is not in power, because their action is not in favour of their policy. The Income Tax department and the Enforcement Directorate are misusing these by using their power.

This is an anti-democratic, dictatorial act. This is not good for the country. Governors are also being mistreated in states where the BJP is not in power. The solution to politics should be found only politically and not through any other reason. If such efforts are made, it is dictatorship and that dictatorship is being carried out by the Modi-Amit Shah alliance across the country.

We are not denying that raids are being conducted for the mistake committed by Senthil Balaji during the previous AIADMK regime. But procedures should also be followed. Even though Senthil Balaji had said that he would cooperate with the investigation, it was reported that the investigation was conducted as if he were an anti-social element and a murder accused.

You can go anywhere like a dog enters an open house, can you do whatever you want? Similarly, it is up to the chief minister to decide who should hold the post of minister in the cabinet. It is the Governor who has to administer the oath of office to the person recommended by the Chief Minister. That's also the governor's job. The Governor does not have the power to decide who should be a minister and who should not be a minister.

The Supreme Court has come down heavily on the Governor of Tamil Nadu and a few other State Governors, saying governors do not have exclusive powers. The governor's actions are aimed at creating a political crisis in Tamil Nadu. The Governor has not been able to award degrees so far even to the students who have completed their studies. The Governor is trying to continue to do competitive politics in Tamil Nadu.

If people's faith in democracy is undermined, there will be mistrust. We said that parliament should be opened with the President. It has been rejected. The President was not even invited to the opening ceremony of Parliament.

She was not invited because she was a woman, belonged to the tribal people and was a widow who had lost her husband. Therefore, PM Modi thinks that if Parliament is opened with him, it will be an abomination. If the President is a woman widow, the Prime Minister is like a male widow.

The Prime Minister speaks of eradicating corruption. If that is the case, didn't he hear that 40 per cent commission was asked in Karnataka? What happened to all this income tax department and enforcement agencies then?

They have come to the conclusion that they will not win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This is the reason why the Enforcement Directorate, income tax department, etc., are misused. They are acting with the intention of winning in an anti-democratic manner through predatory means.

The people of the country are watching all this. People across the country will give their verdict as the people of Karnataka have given their verdict.

The Communist Party of India will always oppose political vendetta. This mistake happened when Senthil Balaji was in the AIADMK when he was in the AIADMK when he was now demanding that Senthil Balaji should be removed from the ministerial post. Why didn't the AIADMK take action against him then and there?

Annamalai now has the power to decide how to use the ED. Now when a minister says publicly that ministers will be trapped in the times of his arrival, who gave him that power? Annamalai is only the state president of a party.

Even before the Income Tax department conducted raids at Senthil Balaji's premises, Annamalai says that the Income Tax department and the Enforcement Directorate are under his control. So our complaint is that these departments are not functioning independently as per the Constitution.

So far, no action has been taken even after the Governor complained to the President that he should be removed on the ground that he was acting against the Constitution and was dependent on a party.“
