Robbery of Two Coimbatore temples:Breaking Hundis, Robbing funds

Miscreants broke into a hundi near Mullai Nagar on the Coimbatore-Marudamalai route and looted cash and jewellery. Similarly, the police are investigating the miscreants who stole brass items from Thillai nagar Vinayagar temple.


Coimbatore: Incidents of robbery at two different temples near Coimbatore have created quite a stir.

Karupparayan Temple is located near Mullai Nagar on the Coimbatore-Marudamalai road. The temple is functioning under the control of The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department. Govindaraj is on duty at the temple.

In this case, earlier this morning there was a sound in the temple that sounded like something breaking.On hearing the noise, the security guard Govindaraj went near the temple and saw it.

He was astounded to find that the hundi in front of the temple had been broken.

At the same time, the priest of the temple came to open the temple gate. While Govindaraj told him what had happened, the two informed the Vadavalli police station.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and examined the CCTV footage. In the footage, three persons were seen breaking the temple hundi and carrying the money wrapped around it in a cloth.

It was also revealed that the chisel and wires were used to break the hundi.

As a result, cash and small coins were scattered up to the wall of the temple. Following this, the police have recorded the fingerprints recorded in the temple and are investigating.

Similarly, there is a Vinayaka temple in New Thillai Nagar, Coimbatore. Miscreants barged into the temple last night and stole items including brass lamps and brass shovels. Passersby were shocked to see that the temple door had been broken.

They later filed a complaint at the Vadavalli police station. Police rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation. They recorded the fingerprints recorded in the temple. They also examined CCTV footage from the area.

Police have arrested four boys from the area for breaking into the temple and stealing items including brass lamps and brass slabs.

Are they the people responsible for the hundi theft at Karupparayan Temple?The police are investigating the matter.
