Coimbatore Hospital Isolated by Rains: People Searching for a Lasting Solution

During the rainy season, rainwater accumulates at the entrance of the Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital and turns into an isolated island. Due to this, the patients and the general public who come to the hospital are suffering a lot.

Coimbatore: Every day, thousands of in-patients and out-patients visit the Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital.

The government hospital has two entrances in front of it. The ambulance will enter through one gate and exit through another. Moreover, a large number of people use this entrance gate.

While an additional building is currently under construction nearby, whenever it rains, rainwater accumulates inside this entrance gate and turns into an island, so that no one can use it.

Due to this, the ambulance is unable to enter and only goes in and out through another route.

At the same time, the public is also using that one entry gate, causing congestion there. Due to this, the general public and the patients are facing a lot of difficulties. The route can be reused only after the hospital administration or the municipal administration has removed the stagnant rainwater with machines.

As a result, patients and members of the general public have urged that a long-term solution should be found to ensure that rainwater does not stagnate inside this entry gate during the rainy season.
