Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Anganwadi Workers and Helpers' Association organised a sit-in protest in Coimbatore, requesting a variety of demands.

The Tamil Nadu Anganwadi Employees and Helpers' Association announced a state-wide hunger strike to push for their various demands, including that main centres with fewer than ten children not be converted into mini-centres.

Accordingly, protests were held today in various districts around Tamil Nadu. As part of this, more than 100 Tamil Nadu Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association members protested in front of the Coimbatore district collectorate, led by the association's district president Shanthi.

Anganwadi centres should be given a month-long holiday, just like schools and colleges are given summer holidays. The demands including granting one year maternity leave should be given to anganwadi workers as well as government employees.
