Tirupur: Monkeys are at home to forests, mountain and mountainous areas. They survive as a family by consuming the fruits grown in the dense forest area and quenching their thirst through the rivers.

In this context, a few years ago, due to the decrease in rainfall, the impact of the heat increased and the forest became deformed.

Subsequently, wildlife including elephant, bison, moose, monkey, peacock, wild boar, etc., started travelling towards the base. The dams at the foothills quenched their thirst and provided shelter to meet their food needs.

After that, due to the rains, elephants, bison and deer went back into the forest. But monkeys, peacocks and wild boars, accustomed to living in the atmosphere of the basement, multiplied their species and established their habitat in the foothills.

Since then, monkeys have been living in the foothills and have been living as a family, picking up food items brought by tourists and devotees.

In this context, the impact of heat has been on the rise over the last few days. This has resulted in wildlife wandering around to quench food and thirst. It also includes monkeys.

Meanwhile, a monkey that had come to Udumalpet town area was roaming in search of food in various areas including Thali Road, GandhiNagar and Ramasamy Nagar. Not knowing the way back to the forest, they keep jumping over buildings and strolling into residential areas. Moreover, the people are scared as they are plucking and eating fruits from the plants grown in their homes.

The people of Udumalpet have also demanded that steps should be taken to capture the monkey, which is roaming in the residential areas, in a cage and take it into the forest area.
