Thieves target Retired Government employee’s house in Dharapurm, looting 8 sovereigns of jewellery!

Jeevanandham (65), a Dharapuram native, lives in Ganapathi Nagar. Miscreants broke into the home of a retired lab assistant at a government hospital in Erode and fled with 8 sovereigns in gold ornaments.


Tirupur: Thieves broke into the home of a retired government employee in Dharapuram and took eight sovereigns in gold ornaments.

Jeevanandam (65) lives in Ganapathi Nagar, Dharapuram, Tiruppur district. He worked as a lab assistant at the erode government hospital before retiring.



He left his home at 9:00 a.m. yesterday. Jeevanandam returned home later that evening. He was surprised to see the house's rear door open.

When I later examined the items in the cupboard, the clothes were scattered. It was discovered that an 8-pound gold chain had been stolen from it. In this respect, Jeevanandam filed a complaint with the Dharapuram crime branch police.

On the basis of the complaint, police inspector Manikandan opened an investigation and inspected the CCTV cameras in the neighbourhood.



When the miscreants spotted Jeevanandam leaving, they broke open the rear door of the house and went inside, stealing eight sovereigns of jewellery from the cupboard.

The event caused widespread panic. The robbers also stole jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh and cash worth Rs 5 lakh from the adjacent Jyoti Nagar area, followed by jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh from the Ashok Nagar area.

Social advocates also claim that housebreaking and robbery in broad daylight are still occurring.
